Resumen

Mobbing is a problem of occupational health considered as psychological, moral and verbal abuse, with the health workers as the most affected. Objective: to explain the relationship between mobbing in nursing staff and the quality of nursing care in second level public hospitals. Material and Methods: the study was quantitative, cross-sectional, correlational and explicative, the influence of mobbing on the nursing staff as an independent variable and quality of nursing care as a dependent variable was studied; convenience sampling, sample composed of two groups: 161 nurses and 117 patients: the questionnaires were used: barometro Cisneros (2004) to assess mobbing in nursing staff and Care Q (2009), for the quality of nursing care; the analysis of the information was descriptive and inferential. Results: in the sample of the nursing staff, the female sex predominates with 85.7%, performing functions of General Nurse with 62.1%, 50.2% of the personnel that have discredited their work at least once a year, while 44.1% of the respondents pointed out that they amplify and dramatize in an unjustified way their small errors, both dimensions indicate the presence of mobbing; Regarding the sample of hospitalized people, 80.5% of patients reported that the nurse is organized at the time of providing care and 78% answered that the nurse has a respectful approach. Conclusion: There was no evidence of the relationship between mobbing in the nursing staff and the quality of nursing care.
