Resumen

Color and sound have always amazed human kind and have generated a great impact on their society, having them modify their culture, mentality and even educational and social structures based on these two phenomena. The comparison between colors and music has been a reoccurring topic among great scientists and artists such as Newton, Kandinsky, Goethe, Aristotle, to mention a few (Caivano & et al, ArgenColor 1992, October, 1994). Based on the results of some projects, observations on the psychology of color and music and the proposals of contemporary artists and scientists, as well as the results of this research, a comparison will be made between some mathematical physics principles of the superposition of sinusoidal waves in five of the most common chords in tonal harmony (based on the equal tempered tuning system), frequencies (colors) of the visible electromagnetic spectrum and the physiological effects generated by these two phenomena. A study from a psychological perspective, to be applied to different control groups, contrasting the results of the physiological effects observed previously will be proposed to be made at a later time. This has the purpose of demonstrating that we tend to relate colors to music in an unconscious way, meaning that there could actually be a series of physical and psychological causes that incite us to do so.
