Resumen
Personalized, remote, and universal education represents a current megatrend resulting from technological changes, as well as from the dynamic evolution of a society. It is also conceived as a vision with high potential to meet the training needs in a more equitable and more flexible way that is expected in the knowledge society. Therefore, the Massive Online Open Courses (MOOCs) constitute an educational modality increasingly present as a result of information and communication technologies, including the potential of the Internet in the educational field. Within the opportunities that arise for the education, includes the one to generate new models and new situations of teaching-learning. Addressing the evolution of this educational modality is important not only to know its history in Mexico, but also the advances through different platforms to direct the personalized learning and environments for the acquisition of new skills and knowledge. Therefore, this work offers an exploratory study, and in parallel develops a descriptive scope. On the one hand, a literature review on the subject of MOOCs in Mexico is carried out using some of the main scientific databases; and, on the other hand, the main efforts of Mexican universities to implement this modality are addressed. Also, recommendations for the Autonomous University of Chihuahua (UACH) for the implementation of this modality are discussed
