Resumen

The personal image that a manager can project will be fundamental when exercising confidence and leadership. The aim of the research was to establish the correlation that exists between personal image and leadership in people who occupy positions of decision making in public organizations. The nature of the research was qualitative inductive reasoning with a strong documentary basis, where, from observations made to an object of study, valid conclusions were obtained for the proposed phenomenon; the design was non-experimental descriptive transectional; The method was a theory based on a narrative design where the data in the field about the experiences of the people selected as a type subjects were collected empirically; the population of interest was teaching and administrative staff that works in the Universidad Autónoma de Chihuahua. The data collection techniques were observation and structured interview. The results showed that from the perception of the interviewees, the knowledge of a leader depends strongly on how he speaks and how he thinks; to a lesser degree how the person looks and acts; the attitudes of a leader are strongly linked to how he performs, in a medium degree, how he looks and to a lesser degree how he thinks and how the person acts; the behaviors of a leader are strongly linked to how he speaks; to a lesser degree in how he acts and what the person looks like; and, the charisma of a leader is moderately linked to how he speaks, how he looks and how the person acts.
