Resumen

In the artificial recharge pond in Chihuahua, Chih. Mexico it is necessary to identify the optimal hydraulic head scoping for minimizing: evapotranspiration loss, reducing time residence that will signify substantial microbiological increase, at the same time searching to maximize the infiltration rate by establishing a vertical mound preference, giving soil treatment to wastewater. Vertical hydraulic conductivity determined based on granulometric analysis by the Junta Municipal de Agua y Saneamiento (JMAS), using Hazen approximation, the obtained results were compared to the pond infiltration tests that were established with a constant hydraulic head. Retrieving optimal operation regime based on the water level measured in piezometers, measuring the input flow and controlling flood duration. Obtaining an optimal hydraulic head for the recharge pond of 0.50 m and 5 days cycle, with 48 hours flooding time period and a 72 hours drying time period, concluding an adequate residence time reaching NOM-015-CONAGUA-2007 quality parameters. A three-dimensional numerical model that solves mass and energy balance equations that describe flow and transport under saturated or unsaturated condition it is essential to estimate the real impact of the artificial recharge pond in the aquifer
