Resumen

In the region of San Marcos, municipality of Chihuahua, the water is in contact with the U ore present in natural deposit. In this paper distribution, fractionation and speciation of 238,234U and 232,230Th as well as major and trace elements suspended particulate matter in San Marcos dam we were determined. The mineral composition of the particulate material suspended in coarse and fine particles is composed mainly clays, quartz and montmorillonita, calcite well. The main chemical species dissolved in the anions were carbonates, sulfates, chlorides, nitrates while were dissolved cations sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium. In the fractionation of chemical species, it was determined 234U and 238U that, Ca and Sr tend to focus on particles of 11 µm. The 232Th and 230Th did not show deference concentrations between particle size. Also, 238U and 234U were found in the bioavailable fraction while the 230Th y 232Th are in the residual fraction. It is concluded that uranium and thorium are distributed similarly in the deep zone, but are fractionated by particle size. The uranium in the suspended particulate matter is easy to free the environment due to its oxidation state, while thorium need of changes in redox
