Resumen

The objective of the study was to evaluate the productive behavior of broiler fed diets added with different levels of ferulic acid (FA). 160 broilers of the Ross line were randomly assigned in 4 treatments, defined by the level of ferulic acid (AF), 20 repetitions were used per treatment with 2 broilers per repetition. They were housed in metabolic cages. The treatments were (T0 = 0ppm, T1 = 10ppm, T2 = 20ppm and T3 = 30ppm) of AF in the diets. The productive behavior on feed consumption (CA), weight gain (GP), feed conversion (CONA), hot carcass yielding (RCC) and cold carcass yielding (RCF) was evaluated. The test lasts 42 days divided into 2 stages: initiation (0 to 3 weeks or 21 days) and finishing (4 to 6 weeks or 21 days). For CA, an effect was found (P <0.05) and there was a decrease in food consumption as the FA level increased. In GP, no differences were found, although weight gain is perceived as AF levels increase. The CONA presented differences (P <0.05) observing that as the level of AF increases this improvement. No differences were found for RCC and RCF (P> 0.05), although it was observed that the increase in the level of AF supposes better performance. It is concluded that AF tends to improve the performance of broiler at the evaluated levels and its use in diets up to 30 ppm is considered feasible for these birds, although it is suggested to extend the investigations in this regard.
